Kansas State Collin Klein had his spring ball press conference on Wednesday afternoon, dropping some insight on the roster potential and game plan moving forward.
And boy, it's hard for Kansas State fans not to be excited about what they heard. Even though it's just a spring ball overview from Klein, his words are already starting to re-establish the [conference] championship pedigree he brought to the school years ago.
"The mindset and mantra throughout the whole winter was 'strain and finish,'" Klein said. "Just learning how to give more every single rep and with everything you do, while finishing every single rep of everything that we do. They've embraced that. Excited to get on the grass. I think we've got a lot of positions that are gonna be very competitive, which we're excited about."
He wants to integrate an "attack mindset," so his players and staff are intentional and lead with initiative before returning for the fall.
"The way my mindset has been - and our entire staff and players - is just that attack mindset," Klein said. "We’re gonna log it away and fix it next time, but at the end of the day, we’re moving forward. We’re not wasting any time, and I think the whole staff has done a really good job with that."
As expected, Klein wants to hit the ground running to reverse last season's direction. Kansas State was anticipated to leap to new heights in 2025, but fell flat in one of the most miserable years in recent memory. Luckily, having a proven winner within the program will help the Wildcats get back on track.
"We’re gonna start fast and finish faster," Klein said in an interview with KCSN. "In today’s world of college football, you have one year to develop this team. We're gonna maximize every opportunity to the fullest, and we’re going to attack it right from the jump. The only way that you get better at playing football is by playing football. We’re gonna utilize every inch of capacity."
