I know it's tiring to hear, Wildcats fans.
But with every given loss, we unfortunately do have to report it here at KStateRoundtable. Kansas State took another hefty loss in its secondary after safety Daniel Cobbs announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. Cobbs had 39 total tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, and five pass deflections last season. He came alive in the second half of the year, with breakout performances against Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.
Cobbs led the team in interceptions in 2025 and had the third-most tackles among safeties. He is the fifth defensive back to announce his departure from the program.
Wildcats coach Collin Klein has ushered in an overhaul of the defensive staff, bringing in a plethora of experienced coaches from the college football landscape. Hopefully, they can start recruiting some talent to replace Kansas State's slowly waning defensive core.
FORMER KANSAS STATE STAR JAYCE BROWN LINKED TO TEXAS A&M
Kansas State and Texas A&M have been linked over the past few weeks, mainly because former Aggies offensive coordinator Collin Klein is returning to Manhattan, KS.
Now, the two are intertwined for different reasons. College Station, TX, has been named one of the potential destinations for former Wildcats star Jayce Brown after Aggies' No. 1 wideout KC Concepcion declared for the NFL Draft. Texas A&M was eliminated from the postseason after a three-point performance against Miami.
“Texas A&M is a school of note at this point for Jayce Brown,” On3 reporter Pete Nakos wrote. “The Aggies are set to lose KC Concepcion to the NFL Draft.”
Brown has been one of the biggest downfield weapons in the Big 12 over the past few years, compiling 115 receptions for 1,972 yards and 13 touchdowns during his three seasons at Kansas State. He averaged 17.4 yards per catch in 2025, the third-highest in the conference. Brown continued blazing last season as the Wildcats' top weapon, but exited with an injury before the Utah loss. A huge loss for the team, as there were many games where he and quarterback Avery Johnson were the primary sources of offense.
He announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 16.
"To my Kansas State family, I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have called Kansas State University my home," Brown said in his statement via social media. "Wildcat Nation, I can't thank you enough for your support over the past three seasons. I will never forget my time in Manhattan, KS, and playing for all of you."
