Kansas State guard PJ Haggerty has been monumental for the team, even despite the 3-14 season.
His latest laud is proof of his high-level performances this year. Haggerty is averaging 23.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and four assists this season.

"A former second-team AP All-American who helped coach Penny Hardaway achieve his best record at Memphis last season, Haggerty didn't find the same success for a Kansas State team that parted ways with former head coach Jerome Tang. But his numbers this season remain comparable to -- if not better than -- those of last season. Averages of 23.3 points and 4.0 assists in 2025-26 are both career highs for the 6-3 guard, who is at his fourth school."
A second-half exploder, Haggerty has been the primary source of offense for the Wildcats this year. With Nate Johnson and David Castillo disappearing in conference play, Haggerty has been the main one keeping Kansas State relatively afloat. He remains among the nation's top scorers and one of the primary candidates for the Men's Player of the Year.
Kansas State plays the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks (21-9, 11-6 in Big 12) on Saturday afternoon. Haggerty was absent from the team's upset victory over West Virginia. However, they will need every bit of support possible to overcome an opponent like Kansas. Kansas State coach Matthew Driscoll was impressed with how his unit adjusted without their star in the starting lineup.
"As the guys started to play, they really had to figure out how to play without him," Driscoll said in his postgame interview. "I thought we were really sloppy, and we looked a little disheveled. So we called a timeout. We ended the first half scoring six of our last eight possessions, so I really felt comfortable that we figured out kind of how to play without PJ a little bit and what that’s gonna look like. So I had a good feeling that the second half was gonna be much better, and it was."
