The Kansas State Wildcats face the Tulane Green Wave Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium
None of the Kansas State Wildcats football players were on the roster for the game.
In 2022, the Wildcats were upset 17-10 by the Tulane Green Wave. The only member of the program who was around was first-year coach Collin Klein. During his game week press conference, he was asked if that loss adds any motivation for Saturday's matchup at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Klein only offered the words "no doubt," but it should provide enough reason for the Wildcats to come out fired up for the game. If anything, it showed the Green Wave are to be taken seriously.
Last year Tulane made the College Football Playoff out of the American Athletic Conference. The selection was met with some criticism because many felt the Green Wave took a spot from a more deserving team such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
But that's another story. The Wildcats should look completely past the fact of the Green Wave falling to Ole Miss 41-10 in the first round of the CFP. K-State can only look back to the last meeting with Tulane.
In 2024, the Wildcats had to tough out a 34-27 victory against the Green Wave on the road. At the time, Tulane was led by now-Miami Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah.
So don't expect the Wildcats to overlook anything this weekend.
KICKOFF TIME SET FOR BIG 12 OPENER
The Wildcats are two weeks from starting the Big 12 conference season.
It opens Sept. 26 on the road against the Cincinnati Bearcats at Nippert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT).
The Wildcats will enter the matchup unbeaten if they can get past the Tulane Green Wave Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. K-State was picked to finish No. 8 in the conference by the league media while the Bearcats checked in at No. 11.
Series history: This marks the eighth meeting. The Wildcats are 3-4 in the matchups.
