The Arizona State Sun Devils are expected to start Mikey Keene at quarterback instead of Cutter Boley

The Kansas State Wildcats will have to make an adjustment for this Saturday's game against the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The Sun Devils are expected to make a change at quarterback. According to reports, they are going with Mikey Keene under center instead of Cutter Boley.

The fact the news comes in the middle of the week means the Wildcats will have to completely adjust their defensive game plan.

The Wildcats are coming off an impressive victory against the Kansas Jayhawks in the Sunflower Showdown at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. It was the 18th straight victory in the series but also stopped a two-game losing streak for the Wildcats.

The Sun Devils are coming off a 53-25 loss to the Big 12 conference defending champion Texas Tech Red Raiders. This could serve as the perfect opportunity for the Wildcats to turn around the season.

A win could keep them in the race for the Big 12 conference championship game and a potential berth in the College Football Playoff. The Wildcats already have a favorable schedule. They somehow avoided playing the BYU Cougars, Utah Utes and the Red Raiders during league play this year. All three of the teams are undefeated and considered the top teams in the conference.

All the Wildcats need to do is remain hot to create a potential meeting with one of those teams in the title game. That would serve as the ultimate prize for first-year coach Collin Klein, who is trying to restore the program after replacing Chris Klieman.

But first K-State must take care of business on Saturday before any of that talk occurs.

COULD WILDCATS BE WITHOUT QB THIS WEEKEND?

Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Avery Johnson has been among the best players for the team, if not the Big 12 conference, this season.

But there is a small chance he could not be available for Saturday's game against the Arizona State Sun Devils in Tempe. He is listed as questionable on the injury report that was released Wednesday.

It would be a huge blow if Johnson is unavailable to play. The Wildcats have dealt with injuries at the backup quarterback spot all season. Jacob Knuth, Blake Barnett and Dillon Duff have all dealt with injuries.

Still, all signs are pointing toward Johnson being available for Saturday's game. The Wildcats are probably making the announcement just for precautionary reasons. An update will be provided on the morning of the game day.
