On Wednesday, the Kansas State Wildcats women's basketball team announced that Brandie Harrod is out for the season due to injury
The Kansas State Wildcats women's team is set to begin one of the most anticipated seasons in school history.
They were ranked No. 25 in the preseason poll and picked to finish in the top half (seventh) of the Big 12 conference by the league media. The Wildcats are expected to have a successful season but the road got tougher earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the team announced guard Brandie Harrod will miss the season after sustaining an undisclosed injury. Coach Jeff Mittie was disappointed with the news.
"Incredibly disappointed for Brandie," Mittie said. "She had worked so hard in the offseason and was poised to really build off her freshman season. Our staff will continue to support and help her through this injury to come back strong next year."
As a freshman, Harrod started 33 games while appearing in all 37. She averaged 6.1 points and 4.8 assists on 43 percent shooting. The Wildcats still have plenty of talent left to make noise in the Big 12 and even the NCAA Tournament this season.
They open the season against the Wichita State Shockers at home Nov. 2.
