Father's Day is a day when people across the country celebrate their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or any other important men in their lives.
But it's also a social media trend for sports fans to troll their rivals. One of the latest examples was the College Basketball Report Twitter page listing all the one-sided rivalries across the country, including Kansas' domination over Kansas State.
Which...you can't really deny. The Jayhawks have dominated the series, losing to Kansas State just eight times over the last 20 seasons. The Wildcats haven't won at Allen Fieldhouse since 2006, losing 20 straight on the Jayhawks' home court. The latest affairs were in 2026, with Kansas State being blown out in both meetings.
Darryn Peterson arguably had his best game of the season against the Wildcats in the season finale, dropping 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting with just one turnover. It's a damning testament when the projected top-three Draft pick has one of his standout performances against you.
And honestly, that's just been the story of the series. The Wildcats own the football series, but basketball is undeniably in Kansas' favor. The hope is that Casey Alexander and company can change the narrative next season. However, a completely new roster look after a few years on the decline may be too much to try to shift the narrative.
Either way, Alexander sure seems confident in his new roster.
"In my opinion, it's about knowing who we are, what we want, sticking to that script, and then just doing it year after year," Alexander said. "The league's got multiple national champions, top to bottom; everybody can point to some success. So it’s foolish to think it’s just gonna happen because we show up, but it can be done, and I’m confident it will be done."
The Bruins veteran won't change his approach to the scheme from his days at Belmont. He won more than 73 percent of his games, topping the Missouri Valley Conference multiple times.
"The approach is very similar," Alexander said. "Right now, I have no idea who our best player is, our main scorer, or our rotational pieces. Those things will be determined, which is unnerving, but what you see on the floor will look the same way that it always has. Just new faces and new uniforms in Bramlage Coliseum, which I’m excited about."
