New Kansas State Wildcats coach Casey Alexander has a week left in the transfer portal

Kansas State Wildcats coach Casey Alexander knows it's going to take some time to put his stamp on the program.

Alexander enters his first season in charge after replacing fired coach Jerome Tang last month. The first chance to evaluate Alexander is the transfer portal, which remains open for another week.

Roundtable Sports writers Jayden Armant (Kansas State) and Liam Carson (Kansas) recently broke down on the Sunflower Showdown podcast what's happened so far in the transfer portal. After leaving Belmont, Alexander has experienced some highs and lulls.

"Casey Alexander's   got some good depth and had some solid pieces but this probably isn't the most wowing start to the transfer portal," Armant said. "I think a lot of guys thought he was going to get a lot of his former Belmont players and he did get some. Unfortunately, it hasn't been the splash to begin with but we still got a week left."

This comes as no surprise because it takes time, especially in the Big 12. Carson is looking forward to seeing what Alexander can do with a bigger budget at K-State.

"We knew this was going to happen," Carson said. "Obviously, when you bring in a new head coach, he's going to bring in his guys. We've seen him bring in some Belmont guys in and some other guys from around the country. I'm sure going from Belmont to Kansas State, he probably has a little bit more resources he can use."

Here are the other additions Kansas State has made so far:

Matt Gilhool, Redshirt Freshman Forward

2025-26 STATS: N/A

ANNOUNCEMENT DATE: Apr. 14

Gilhool didn't see the floor at all in his freshman season at LSU. He was a four-star prospect out of William Penn Charter High School in Philadelphia, PA. At 6-foot-11, Gilhool will likely play at the five unless he shares the floor with JT Rock.

JT Rock, Sophomore Center

2025-26 STATS: 6.2 PTS, 3.5 REB, 0.9 BLK

ANNOUNCEMENT DATE: Apr. 13

Rock most recently played at New Mexico after spending his freshman year at Iowa State. He knocked down 37.9 percent of his 3-pointers last season, the most by a big man in the school's history. His ability to hit on the perimeter as a big man should play right into the Wildcats' game plan.

Jaden Schutt, Junior Guard

2025-26 STATS: 7.7 PTS, 1.6 REB, 0.9 AST
