The season-ending injury to Will Anciuax gives even more opportunity to Kansas State Wildcats tight end Linkon Cure

There is no better time for Kansas State Wildcats tight end Linkon Cure to make an impact than now.

On Monday, first-year coach Collin Klein announced that tight end Will Anciuax would miss the remainder of the season with a lower leg injury. That just means it's time for Cure to step up.

The Wildcats have already expressed interest in getting more opportunities for Cure, who is among the most hyped players in program history. He is the first five-star recruit to ever sign with the Wildcats

K-State should make every effort to get Cure more involved. He is perhaps the team's most athletic player. He not only starred in football but also was a standout basketball player and track athlete. He even won the hurdles at the state track meet when he was a senior.

That's what made him one of the most recruited players in the nation two years ago. He chose the Wildcats over the likes of the Texas A & M Aggies, Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions.

The Wildcats won out because of Cure's desire to play in-state after starring at Goodland High School in Kansas. The hope is he can mimic the success he had as a high school star.

KLEIN READY TO FACE ROLE MODEL

Klein is preparing to go up against one of his idols this weekend.

The Wildcats play at home against the Houston Cougars Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The Cougars are coached by Willie Fritz, who Klein has admired from afar for a long time.

In his first year as the K-State coach, Klein has the opportunity to go up against one of his role models.

"I have looked up to Coach Fritz for a long time," Klein said during his weekly press conference. "Having gotten into this profession and seeing his track record, seeing how hard his teams play, how disciplined they are, the pressure they put on you schematically in all phases."

K-STATE LOSES KEY PLAYER FOR SEASON

Tight end was one of the strongest units for the Kansas State Wildcats entering this season.

On Monday, the unit got a little weaker.

During his weekly press conference, K-State coach Collin Klein revealed that tight end Will Anciaux is out for the remainder of the season due to a lower leg injury. It happened in the loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Big 12 opener.

A senior, Anciaux had six catches for 84 yards before the injury occurred.
