Kansas men’s basketball used an efficient attack to take down Towson 73-49 on Tuesday night inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks were once again without star freshman guard Darryn Peterson, but his absence rarely held Kansas back. Peterson missed the game due to a quad cramping issue.
Led by Flory Bidunga’s efficiency inside and balanced contributions across the lineup, the Jayhawks pulled away in the second half for a huge victory. Kansas jumped out quickly, moving the ball with pace and building a double-digit lead less than five minutes into the game. The Jayhawks never looked back and cruised to another non-conference win.
Bidunga led the Jayhawks with 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Tre White finished with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists, ofetin contributing alongside Melvin Coucil Jr. Council followed up his standout performance at NC State with 15 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and providing timely scoring whenever the offense stalled.
Freshman Bryson Tiller added 11 points and provided a notable moment when he hit a corner three midway through the second half, snapping a 0-for-15 drought from beyond the arc that spanned seven games.
Towson guard Dylan Williamson led all scorers for the Tigers with 19 points.
With the victory, Kansas moves to 9-3 on the season and now has one more game before Big 12 Conference play. The Jayhawks will host Davidson at Allen Fieldhouse on Monday night at 7 p.m. CST in their final game before the holiday break.
