Kansas has emerged as the early favorite to land the nation’s top high school basketball prospect.
247Sports added a crystal ball prediction projecting five-star small forward Tyran Stokes to commit to the Jayhawks, giving Kansas 100 percent of the early expert picks in the 2026 class.
Stokes, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound standout from Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, is ranked the No. 1 player in the country by 247Sports and the 247Sports Composite. He holds more than 25 offers and is being recruited by Kentucky, Oregon, Louisville and USC.
“Stokes is the most talented prospect in the national class and a unique match-up for opposing defenders,” 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote. “At 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds with a 7-foot wingspan, he’s powerful, long and explosively athletic.”
Kansas already owns one of the nation’s top 2026 recruiting classes, led by five-star point guard Taylen Kinney and a group ranked third nationally by 247Sports. Adding Stokes would give Bill Self another elite cornerstone as the Jayhawks continue to stack top-tier talent for the future.
