The Jayhawks aim to weaponize depth and versatility, blending raw physicality with explosive playmaking to support a new quarterback while maintaining a foundation of unrelenting toughness.

Andy Kotelnicki Reveals Identity He Wants Kansas Offense To Establish In 2026

Kansas associate head coach Andy Kotelnicki has plenty of new pieces to work with in his return to Lawrence, but the identity he wants from the Jayhawks' offense is straightforward.

Kansas wants to be physical, versatile and explosive.

“We want our football team to be physical,” Kotelnicki said. “That's not just on our side of the ball. It's in all phases.”

Kotelnicki said the offensive staff also wants to find ways to consistently put the ball in the hands of Kansas' top playmakers. The Jayhawks believe their personnel gives them several different ways to accomplish that.

“We have some puzzle pieces, right, that we could use,” Kotelnicki said. “We have fun little weapons that we can move around and utilize in a lot of different ways.”

That versatility could be especially valuable with Kansas preparing to turn its offense over to a quarterback without extensive starting experience.

Rather than building everything around one player, Kotelnicki's comments suggest Kansas could lean on the depth of its skill-position groups.

The Jayhawks have multiple options at running back and wide receiver, while Kotelnicki also sees opportunities to create different looks with the tight ends.

Still, regardless of how creative the offense becomes, Kotelnicki does not want Kansas to move away from its foundation.

“There should be some diversity with what we're doing, but still rooted in toughness and physicality and being explosive,” Kotelnicki said.

With the season approaching, Kansas' challenge will be turning that vision into consistent production.
