The wait is finally over. Five-star forward Tyran Stokes will announce his college decision tonight, choosing between Kansas and Kentucky. The No. 1 player in the 2026 class is expected to reveal his pick around 5:30 p.m. CT on Inside the NBA.
For weeks, this recruitment has felt like a two-team race, and now it officially is. Oregon is out, leaving Bill Self and the Jayhawks battling John Calipari and the Wildcats for one of the most coveted prospects in the country.
Stokes, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward out of Rainier Beach (WA), has everything you want in a one-and-done star. He’s physical, explosive, can score at the rim, and makes plays for others. Simply put, he’s a program-changer.
Kansas has long been viewed as the team to beat. There’s strong confidence around the Jayhawks, fueled by his relationship with assistant Kurtis Townsend and consistent buzz from recruiting insiders.
That said, Kentucky isn’t going away quietly. The Wildcats have pushed hard, hosting multiple visits and leaning into strong connections around Stokes, along with their Nike backing.
