Fresh off being the No. 2 overall pick, the former Jayhawk star secures a historic partnership, cementing his status as the new face of the three-stripes brand.
Darryn Peterson Lands One Of The Richest Rookie Shoe Deals In NBA History With Adidas
Former Kansas star Darryn Peterson entered the NBA as one of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2026 draft class, and now he has the endorsement deal to match.
Just hours after the Utah Jazz selected Peterson with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft, footwear insider Nick DePaula reported that the former Jayhawk signed a massive long-term contract with Adidas. According to DePaula, the agreement ranks among the five richest rookie shoe deals in NBA history.
“#2 Draft pick Darryn Peterson has signed a massive long-term deal with Adidas to headline the next generation of the brand,” DePaula posted on social media. “The total value commitment makes the explosive wing scorer’s Adidas contract a Top 5 richest rookie shoe deal in NBA history, per sources.”
The partnership is a natural continuation of Peterson’s relationship with Adidas. He signed an NIL deal with the company in 2023 while still in high school and spent his lone college season at Kansas, one of Adidas’ flagship basketball programs.
Peterson rewarded that investment with an impressive freshman campaign. Despite missing 11 games because of injuries and recurring cramping issues, he averaged 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game while establishing himself as one of college basketball’s most dynamic scorers.
His combination of size, athleticism and shot-making ability helped keep him near the top of draft boards throughout the season and ultimately made him the highest-drafted Kansas player since Andrew Wiggins went No. 1 overall in 2014.
Now, Peterson joins an exclusive group of NBA rookies whose marketability matched their draft stock before ever playing a professional game. With the Jazz building around him and Adidas investing heavily in his future, Peterson enters the NBA with expectations that extend well beyond the basketball court.
For Utah and Adidas alike, Peterson represents a cornerstone investment in the next generation of basketball stars.
