Kansas football added a major piece to its offense Sunday when former Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards announced his commitment to the Jayhawks after a weekend visit to Lawrence.
Edwards revealed his decision on Instagram on Sunday morning after attending Kansas’ men’s basketball game against Baylor on Friday night. A former four-star recruit and the No. 2 player in Kansas coming out of high school, Edwards brings speed, versatility and big-play ability to a Jayhawks backfield that has been reshaped this offseason.
Edwards began his college career at Colorado in 2023, where he rushed for 321 yards and a touchdown and added 36 catches for 299 yards and four more scores as a true freshman. He transferred to Kansas State ahead of the 2024 season and rushed for 546 yards and five touchdowns while backing up future NFL running back DJ Giddens, averaging an impressive 7.4 yards per carry.
Injuries limited Edwards to four games this past season, but he still totaled 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a 166-yard performance against UCF. He later announced plans to redshirt and enter the transfer portal, where he ranked as the No. 19 running back available, according to On3.
Now headed to Lawrence with two years of eligibility remaining, Edwards joins a talented group that includes Colorado State transfer Jalen Dupree and Syracuse transfer Yasin Willis. What was once a major question mark now looks like a potential strength for the Jayhawks heading into the 2026 season.
With his ability to impact the game both on the ground and through the air, Edwards gives Kansas another dynamic weapon in an increasingly loaded running back room.
