As Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels continues on pace for a career season, his progress is being recognized by prominent outlets as well.
ESPN released its Power Four quarterback rankings, listing the Jayhawks' signal-caller at No. 21. He placed ahead of the likes of Big 12 opponents such as Josh Hoover (TCU) and Behren Morton (Texas Tech).
The article wrote:
"A career that began during the 2020 COVID season will soon end with Daniels No. 2 on Kansas' passing yardage and touchdown lists, behind only Todd Reesing. Although he never has gotten enough help from his defense (average defensive SP+ ranking in his time: 89.0), he's wrapping up the year playing clean ball: He has thrown only three interceptions, and the Jayhawks are 26th in offensive success rate."

What have we learned about the quarterbacks as we race to the end of the season?
Daniels has 2,190 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and three interceptions this season, rushing for 345 yards and three touchdowns. He still ranks among the nation's best in passing touchdowns, but his inaccuracy shows at times. He is also very prone to fumbling the ball, illustrating his carelessness at times. Daniels was considered a wild card for the 2025 NFL Draft, and this season does offer some promise. However, the headliners ahead of him at the position create a very narrow path to the NFL.
Regardless, Daniels and the Jayhawks must focus on finishing the season strong. They are out of postseason contention but can still qualify for a bowl game. Kansas only needs one more victory, but faces Iowa State and Utah to end the year, both of which are difficult opponents. Its best bet is against the Cyclones next Saturday, considering Utah will likely be fighting for a playoff spot.
"We've had tough games before where we've lost," Daniels said in his Arizona postgame interview. "I think that this team, no matter what goes on, is resilient. Whether it's in-game and things aren’t going right, we bounce back in the game, no matter if it’s a win or a loss at the end of the day. We’re gonna take those 24 hours and take it in."
Daniels wants to bounce back from the Arizona loss to end the season with a positive record and a bowl appearance.
"It gets repetitive and mundane for me to keep saying it to y'all every time we take a loss. But own what's on film, because at the end of the day, that's the only thing that's gonna continue to make us better and bounce back from a loss like this," Daniels said. "And the end of the day, we're still chasing that sixth win, and that's exactly what we're gonna keep doing."
