A late-inning power surge and a dramatic 13th-inning walk-off home run halted the Jayhawks’ 10-game winning streak during a nearly five-hour marathon battle at Charles Schwab Field.

Kansas Baseball Falls to Creighton 9-8 in 13 Innings, Win Streak Snapped

Kansas dropped a marathon midweek matchup Tuesday night, falling 9-8 to Creighton in 13 innings at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.

The loss snapped the Jayhawks’ 10-game winning streak despite an explosive start at the plate. Kansas built an early lead with three runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth, later adding a solo home run in the sixth to go up 8-6.

Josh Dykhoff led the offense with his 11th home run of the season, while Cade Baldridge recorded three hits for his 23rd multi-hit game of the year.

Creighton battled back to tie the game at 8-8 in the seventh inning, and both teams went quiet offensively down the stretch. Kansas had opportunities late but could not push across a run over the final seven innings.

After escaping threats in the 11th and 12th, the Jayhawks couldn’t hold on in the 13th, as Creighton’s Ben North delivered a walk-off solo home run to end the nearly five-hour game.

Kansas used eight pitchers in the contest, with multiple relievers turning in scoreless outings to keep the game within reach.

Despite the setback, the Jayhawks sit at 37-12 on the season and will return home to face No. 15 West Virginia in their final regular-season series.

Grant Mordini Commits to Kansas Jayhawks, Adds Frontcourt Depth to 2026 Class

Kansas added another piece to its 2026 freshman class with the commitment of Grant Mordini, a 6-foot-10 big man out of Avon Old Farms School.

Mordini made his decision shortly after an official visit to Lawrence, giving head coach Bill Self another frontcourt option as the roster continues to take shape. While his addition doesn’t carry the same headline impact as No. 1 overall recruit Tyran Stokes, it fills an important need for size and depth.

The Connecticut native is largely unranked and flew under the radar during the recruiting process, with limited Division I interest. However, his 6-foot-10, 210-pound frame and reported ability to stretch the floor, shooting near 46% from three as a senior, make him an intriguing developmental piece.

Mordini joins a freshman group that includes Stokes, Taylen Kinney, and other key additions, helping round out what is shaping up to be one of the more complete classes in the country.

With Kansas already featuring big men like Christian Reeves and Paul Mbiya, Mordini is expected to provide depth early, with the opportunity to carve out a role as the season progresses.
