Kansas Baseball Set to Make History at the Field of Dreams
Kansas baseball is preparing to take part in a unique moment in college baseball history.
The Jayhawks will face Iowa in a fall exhibition game at the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville, Iowa, on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. CT. The matchup will mark the first Division I college baseball game played at the iconic venue and the first time two Power 4 programs have faced each other at the Field of Dreams.
For Kansas, the game will provide an opportunity to play at one of the most recognizable baseball locations in the country while also beginning preparations for the 2027 season.
The Field of Dreams became famous after the release of the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner, which turned the Iowa location into one of the most recognizable baseball settings in the country. The site later became home to Major League Baseball's Field of Dreams games, beginning with the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox in 2021.
Now, Kansas and Iowa will add another chapter to the location's baseball history.
The Jayhawks are coming off a historic 2026 season under head coach Dan Fitzgerald. Kansas won the Big 12 regular-season championship for the first time since 1949 and followed that by winning the conference tournament championship for the first time since 2006. The Jayhawks also won the NCAA Tournament Lawrence Regional before advancing to the super regional round.
That success gives the Field of Dreams matchup an added level of excitement for Kansas.
Iowa will provide the opposition in the historic exhibition. The Hawkeyes finished the 2026 season with a 33-23 record and reached the Big Ten Tournament for the 11th consecutive season.
Although the game will not count toward either team's regular-season record, it will give both programs an opportunity to compete in front of a unique crowd and experience a venue that has become synonymous with baseball.
The ballpark has a listed capacity of approximately 5,350 people, and Kansas Athletics announced that tickets would be sold as general admission for $12 plus taxes and fees. Gates are scheduled to open at noon CT.
For Kansas players, the experience will be about more than simply preparing for another season. They will get the chance to step onto a field connected to one of baseball's most recognizable stories.
As the Jayhawks continue building on their historic 2026 season, their trip to Dyersville will give them a chance to make history of their own.
Kansas and Iowa will become the first Division I college baseball programs to play at the Field of Dreams, creating another memorable chapter for both schools and the historic Iowa ballpark.
