Kansas Fans Have No Mercy For Jalon Daniels Despite Monster Performance cover image

College football fans are ruthless.

The latest example is Kansas quarterback Jalon Daniels getting scorched on social media after dropping to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon. Despite having 500 yards of total offense, many scrutinized his fourth-quarter fumble near the goal line. Considering the Jayhawks lost by a field goal, this touchdown could have put them up midway through the fourth and possibly changed the outcome.

Even getting the ball back to tie or take the lead, Kansas stalled on the final drive.

Still, many defended Daniels amid the Jayhawks' horrid defensive performance. The defense gave up 37 points and over 600 yards of total offense.

"Take it from a Tech fan who lived through the Kingsbury era - Having a fun team that always has a cheeks defense and ends up 7-5 gets old," one user tweeted. "Leipold eventually has to be held accountable for these bad defensive units."

Daniels ended the day going 19-of-28 for 445 yards and four touchdowns, rushing 14 times for 55 yards. He took accountability for his performance, promising to work on his turnovers.

“I fumbled the ball, and that just can’t happen in those situations,” Daniels said in his postgame interview. “That’s a situation where if you score, you put your team in a good position to be able to win the game. But then you fumble at less than the five-yard line, you can’t have plays like that. You can't.”

Despite Kansas' 3-2 record, Daniels is on track for a career season in his sixth year with the team. He is No. 12 in the country in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns.

Kansas faces UCF on Saturday night.

TOP 2026 GUARD TAYLEN KINNEY OFFICIALLY COMMITS TO KANSAS

Kansas men’s basketball landed another elite recruit on Sunday afternoon. The number one point guard in the class of 2026, Taylen Kinney, announced his commitment to Kansas.

The six-foot-three guard from Kentucky currently plays basketball for Overtime Elite. Kinney chose the Jayhawks over Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville and Oregon.

Kinney announced his commitment on Sunday, live on CBS Sports HQ from his hometown, Newport, Kentucky.

“Kinney is a scoring and playmaking lead guard who is smooth and versatile with his attack," 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein wrote. “He’s a multi-level scoring threat with a creative and crisp handle to get to his advanced pull-up game or pressure the rim.”

Kinney is the first Kansas commit to join the program’s 2026 class. He made his official visit to Lawrence on Aug. 22 and has now chosen to become a Jayhawk.
