Kansas Among Final Three Schools for Five-Star Forward

Kansas basketball continues to make progress on the recruiting trail as five-star forward Malachi Jordan has narrowed his college recruitment to three schools. The Jayhawks remain in the mix alongside St. John's and Vanderbilt as the 2027 prospect gets closer to making one of the biggest decisions of his basketball career.

According to 247Sports recruiting reporter Dushawn London, Jordan is now focused on Kansas, St. John's and Vanderbilt. His decision leaves three high-major programs competing for one of the top remaining prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.

Jordan is a 6-foot-7, 235-pound forward who attends Prolific Prep. He is ranked No. 24 nationally in the 2027 class and is considered the No. 6 small forward, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His combination of size, athleticism and versatility makes him an attractive addition for any program looking to strengthen its future roster.

For Kansas, landing Jordan would be another significant recruiting victory for head coach Bill Self. The Jayhawks have continued to pursue some of the nation's best high school talent, and adding a player with Jordan's physical tools would give Kansas another potential difference-maker on the wing.

One reason Jordan could be an especially important target for Kansas is the possibility of needing to replace current freshman Tyran Stokes after the 2026-27 season. Stokes is widely viewed as a potential one-and-done prospect, making Jordan an intriguing option for the future.

Kansas previously hosted Jordan for an official visit in September, giving Self and his coaching staff an opportunity to showcase the program, its facilities and its player-development approach.

However, the Jayhawks will have competition from two programs that have also made strong impressions. St. John's, led by Rick Pitino, recently hosted Jordan for an official visit. His father praised the program's approach to player development and the attention the coaching staff gives its players.

Vanderbilt also remains firmly involved in the recruitment, giving Jordan another opportunity to stay in the SEC and compete at a high level.

As Rock Chalk Talk reported, Kansas has officially positioned itself among the finalists for one of the country's most talented 2027 forwards.

There is still no announced commitment date, and the Jayhawks will need to continue making their case as Jordan evaluates his final three options.  JayhawksRoundtable.
