Freshman Darryn Peterson scored 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting and Flory Bidunga added 23 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks as Kansas men's basketball pulled away for an 80-62 win over Baylor on Friday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas jumped out to a 19-4 lead before Baylor answered with an 8-0 run and eventually took its first lead at 37-36. The Jayhawks closed the half with seven straight points, capped by a stepback jumper from Peterson, who had 20 points before the break.

Bidunga highlighted a dominant start to the second half with an alley-oop dunk and free throw during a 15-3 Kansas run that pushed the lead to 58-40. Baylor opened the half just 1 of 6 from the field after missing its final four shots of the first half. Kansas led by at least 10 the rest of the way.

Peterson now has six 20-point games this season for the Jayhawks (13-5, 3-2 Big 12), who are coming off an 84-63 win over No. 2 Iowa State and have shot better than 50% from the field in each of their last two games.

Cameron Carr led Baylor with 24 points and five 3-pointers. Tounde Yessoufou added 20 points.

The Jayhawks will now head on the road to Boulder to face Colorado at the CU Events Center on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. CST and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
