Kansas-Middle Tennessee Game Sold Out for Family Weekend
Kansas football is preparing to return to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium with a packed house expected Saturday, as Kansas Athletics has announced that the Jayhawks’ matchup against Middle Tennessee is officially sold out.
The game, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. CT, will be the first meeting between Kansas and Middle Tennessee in program history. The matchup will also serve as Kansas’ Family Weekend game, giving the Jayhawks an opportunity to play in front of a full home crowd after spending the previous two weeks away from Lawrence.
Kansas Athletics’ ticketing site lists the Middle Tennessee game as sold out, adding to the anticipation surrounding the Jayhawks’ return home. The sellout comes during one of the busiest weekends on the KU campus, with families visiting Lawrence for Family Weekend and attending events throughout the university.
Family Weekend is designed to bring students and their families together for a variety of activities, with the football game serving as one of the major highlights of the weekend. KU’s Office of Family Engagement lists the Middle Tennessee matchup as the 2026 Family Weekend football game.
For the Jayhawks, the sold-out crowd comes at an important point in the season. Kansas enters the matchup 1-2 overall and is looking to respond after falling to Arizona State 24-17 in the inaugural Union Jack Classic at Wembley Stadium in London.
The Jayhawks had an open week following the London game, giving the team additional time to prepare for Middle Tennessee. Now, Kansas will return to its home stadium for the first time since a 38-21 loss to Missouri on Sept. 11.
Quarterback Isaiah Marshall will make his fourth career start Saturday. Through the first three games of the season, Marshall has thrown for 649 yards and five touchdowns while adding 124 rushing yards. Wide receiver Nik McMillan has emerged as his top target, recording 12 catches for 226 yards and two touchdowns through three games.
The Jayhawks will also look to their defense to continue its strong start to the season. Kansas has allowed 281 yards per game through its first three contests and held Arizona State to just 228 total yards in London.
Middle Tennessee enters Lawrence with a 2-2 record after losing to Jacksonville State last weekend. The Blue Raiders average 26 points per game and are led offensively by quarterback Roman Gagliano and running back Antonio Martin Jr.
With Family Weekend bringing families together across campus and the game officially sold out, Kansas will have a strong home atmosphere when it takes the field Saturday morning.
The Jayhawks will look to give the crowd plenty to celebrate in their return to Lawrence.
