Allen Fieldhouse magic. The Jayhawks were staring down an 0-2 start in Big 12 Conference play before the Allen Fieldhouse magic kicked in. The No. 22 Kansas Jayhawks erased a 16-point deficit in the final minutes and stunned the TCU Horned Frogs 104-100 in overtime Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse, completing the program’s biggest home comeback since 2012.

Kansas men's basketball trailed by 15 with under five minutes to play before rallying behind clutch shooting and defense. Darryn Peterson scored 32 points in 32 minutes and tied the game with 1.7 seconds left by calmly sinking three free throws after being fouled on a late three-point attempt. Peterson did not play in overtime after dealing with cramps.

From there, Melvin Council Jr. took over, scoring nine of his 18 points in the extra period. Tre White added 22 for the Jayhawks.

TCU, which led by as many as 16 and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, was paced by David Punch (20 points, nine rebounds) and Liutaras Lelevicius (23 points, five three-pointers). Punch and Lelevicius were held scoreless in overtime.

After a slow defensive start, Kansas surged late in the first half to take a five-point lead into the break, then fell behind again as TCU controlled the glass. The Jayhawks’ late push, aided by timely stops and missed free throws by the Frogs, forced overtime and sealed a dramatic win.

Kansas will travel to face the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday morning. The game will tip off at 11 a.m. CST and will be broadcast on FOX.
