Buccaneers scout Kansas QB Jalon Daniels, adding him to their draft board. Could this dynamic passer be Tampa Bay's next developmental prospect?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Give Kansas QB Jalon Daniels a Look Ahead of NFL Draft

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing their homework on quarterbacks ahead of the draft, and that includes a visit with former Kansas Jayhawks football standout Jalon Daniels. Earlier in the draft process, the Patriots had a top-30 vist with Daniels, and now an NFC team has joined the party.

According to reports, Daniels is meeting with Tampa Bay as part of a top-30 visit, giving him a real shot to land on the Bucs’ radar as a developmental option behind Baker Mayfield.

Daniels’ path to this point hasn’t been perfect, but there’s no denying the production. Across six seasons at Kansas, he threw for over 9,200 yards and 67 touchdowns while adding another 800+ yards on the ground. When healthy, he was the engine that helped bring Kansas football back into relevance.

That said, durability has always been part of the conversation. Shoulder and back injuries limited him at key points in his career, and even late in his time at KU, consistency as a passer was still a question mark.

Still, the traits are there—and that’s clearly what NFL teams are interested in. Daniels impressed during the pre-draft process, including a strong showing at the Shrine Bowl and a 4.65 40-yard dash at the combine. His dual-threat ability and natural arm talent give him a foundation that teams can work with.

Daniels likely isn’t a day-one guy at the next level. But situations like this are exactly where he can carve out a role. If he lands in the right system and stays healthy, he’ll get a chance to prove he belongs.

Flory Bidunga Commits to Louisville, Kansas Loses Defensive Anchor

Former Kansas Jayhawks big man Flory Bidunga has officially found his next home, committing to the Louisville Cardinals after a weekend visit, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Bidunga’s departure is a significant blow for Kansas, especially on the defensive end. The sophomore center was a major presence this past season, averaging 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game while earning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. He started at center and quickly became the backbone of KU’s interior defense.

Across two seasons in Lawrence, Bidunga played in 69 games and developed into one of the most impactful big men in the conference. His ability to protect the rim and control the glass made him a key piece for the Jayhawks.

Now, he heads to Louisville, where he joins a program continuing to rebuild its roster through the portal. His visit also overlapped with Oregon transfer Jackson Shelstad, who shares the same agent, adding another layer to Louisville’s offseason moves.

For Kansas, the focus now shifts fully to roster reconstruction. Bill Self and his staff have been active, setting up Zoom calls and lining up visits with multiple portal targets, including Robert Morris transfer DeSean Goode and VCU transfer Terrence Hill Jr.

With just two scholarship players, Kohl Rosario and Corbin Allen, expected to return, the Jayhawks still have plenty of work to do.
