Tyran Stokes Debuts New Nike Basketball Shoes Ahead of Kansas Season
Tyran Stokes is already making an impact off the court before playing his first official game for the Kansas Jayhawks, as the freshman recently debuted an unreleased Nike basketball shoe.
Stokes, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class, was recently spotted wearing the new Nike GT Force, giving basketball fans an early look at one of Nike Basketball’s newest performance models. The shoe has not officially been released to the public, making Stokes’ appearance notable as Nike continues to develop the next generation of its basketball footwear.
The GT Force stands out because of its high-top design. While many modern basketball shoes have moved toward lower-cut silhouettes, the GT Force features a more traditional high-top construction that appears designed to provide additional support around the ankle. The shoe also features a noticeable zig-zag section along the side of the midsole and a structured upper.
Stokes is not the only athlete to be seen in the new model. Seattle Storm forward Awa Fam has also worn the unreleased shoe, giving Nike fans another early look at the design. However, Stokes’ appearance is especially interesting because of his status as one of the biggest names in college basketball heading into the 2026-27 season.
The Kansas freshman already has a relationship with Nike. Stokes was part of Nike’s NIL class and has previously been featured by the company during his time as one of the nation’s top high school prospects.
Now, his move to Kansas gives Nike another high-profile college athlete to showcase its newest basketball products.
Stokes enters Lawrence with significant expectations. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound freshman was ranked No. 1 nationally and signed with Kansas after a recruitment that included finalists such as Kentucky and Oregon. During his senior season at Rainier Beach, he averaged 31.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game while helping his team win the Washington 3A state championship.
With the college basketball season approaching, Stokes’ debut of the GT Force gives fans another reason to keep an eye on the highly touted freshman. While the shoe’s official release date has not been announced, Stokes has provided an early glimpse at what could become one of Nike Basketball’s next major performance shoes.
