Owens' explosive hitting powers Kansas to a dominant week. He crushes three homers and fuels a historic Jayhawks winning streak.
Kansas baseball keeps rolling, and Tyson Owens is a big reason why. The sophomore just earned both Big 12 Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week after a ridiculous four-game stretch. Owens hit .625 with three home runs, seven RBIs, and nine runs scored while posting a 1.934 OPS in a perfect 4-0 week against No. 20 Nebraska and Kansas State.
He delivered in big moments too. A game-tying homer vs Nebraska, a ninth-inning shot on Saturday, and a go-ahead bomb Sunday at K-State showing his clutch gene.
Owens had multiple hits in all four games and homered in three of them, raising his average from .248 to .293. He now sits second on the team in on-base percentage and top three in slugging.
He is just the third player in program history to sweep both weekly awards in the same week, joining Tyson LeBlanc and Caleb Upshaw. And the bigger picture is just as impressive.
Kansas Jayhawks baseball is now 33-11 overall, 17-4 in Big 12 play, and has won six straight games, 17 of its last 18, and 23 of its last 26. They have also won six straight conference series for the first time ever. Kansas is not just hot. They are one of the best teams in the country right now.

Source: Jeff Goodman, Tyran Stokes Could Announce Decision Monday
Kansas men's basketball and its fans may not have to wait much longer. According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, the No. 1 player in the country, Tyran Stokes, could be nearing a decision with a potential announcement coming Monday.
“I was told by one source close to the situation that Tyran Stokes… could announce his decision on Monday,” Goodman posted. “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
The latest intel points to a two-team race between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kentucky Wildcats, with no mention of Oregon despite recent buzz.
Stokes, a consensus top-ranked prospect, has been one of the most closely followed recruits in the 2026 cycle. Both Kansas and Kentucky have been heavily involved throughout, and the decision is expected to come down to those two programs.
While a Monday commitment is not confirmed, momentum is building toward a resolution in the coming days.
