The LSU Tigers defense has lead the team to a 3-0 start, the first under Brian Kelly, but everyone has been waiting for an offensive showcase.

There could not be a better time for it to happen than on Saturday night against the Southeastern Lions. This is the last "tune-up" game that the Tigers will have before a tough SEC stretch begins.

Finding some rhythm is crucial, but nothing is guaranteed. Even against an opponent in which LSU is favored to beat by nearly 50 points.

Here's a rundown of everything happening throughout Saturday's game:

    1st Quarter

    • The Lions win the toss and opt to defer possession to the second half. LSU receives the opening kickoff.
    • A loss of seven yards on the pass to Caden Durham to start this game, not exactly what one wants to see.
    • The Tigers offense can't overcome the bad first play, and now they punt it away with a nightmare three-and-out to start this game.
    • LSU's defense comes out ready to play and Whit Weeks makes his presence known early as they force a three-and-out of their own.
    • Back-to-back drops by Tigers receivers has LSU in danger of ruining their solid field position.
    • An easy completion to Aaron Anderson over the middle of the field picks up the first down.
    • It took the Tigers 13 plays to go 45 yards, but a Garrett Nussmeier rushing touchdown makes it a 7-0 LSU lead.
    • The Tigers had Southeastern held to a three-and-out, but a running into the punter penalty extends the drive.
    • The Lions get aggressive on first down and their quarterback keeper gets completely stuffed. LSU ball on the Southeastern 44-yard line.
    • The Tigers pick up the first down on the first play of the drive, but a nine-yard sack as them starting the second quarter on 2nd and 19.

    2nd Quarter

    • LSU decides to go for it on 4th and 11 and pick it up on a completion over the middle to Zavion Thomas for 17 yards.
    • Ju'Juan Johnson with a tough 16-yard run sets the offense up for a goal-to-go situation starting at the Lions 2.
    • Johnson gets the payoff as he runs it up the middle on the next play for the touchdown. Tigers lead 14-0.
    • Nussmeier picks up a 26-yard scramble and then shows some emotion on the sideline. Things seem to be clicking for LSU.
    • Johnson gets his second touchdown of the night, this time on a tough 10-yard run. Tigers lead 21-0.
    • This has been a good night for Jacobian Guillory as he and Jack Pyburn combine for a sack and force the punt.
    • Nussmeier tries the deep ball to Chris Hilton Jr., but a defensive pass interference gets in the way of a big play.
    • The offensive line continues to struggle across the board, which really feels like it could come back to haunt them at some point this season.
    • A beautiful throw to the back of the end zone by Nussmeier finds Brown for a 17-yard contested touchdown catch. LSU leads 28-0.
    • Another three-and-out forced by this stout Tigers defense.
    • Nic Anderson could have had his second touchdown of the season, but the drop issues continue to be prevalent.
    • LSU picks up another touchdown before the half ends with a nine-yard toss to Thomas. Tigers lead 35-0.

    3rd Quarter

    • LSU allows a quick first down, but tighten up after that. Southeastern forced to punt.
    • Bauer Sharp shows off the athleticism on a 23-yard catch and run as he "hurdles" a Lions defender into the end zone. Tigers lead 42-0.
    • The biggest play of the night for Southeastern is a nice throw over the middle of the field that is caught and ran for a 30-yard pass. Lions are in LSU territory.
    • A nice run on third and 10 picks up a first down for Southeastern as they reach the red zone for the first time tonight.
    • The Lions find the end zone after an efficient 75-yard drive. Tigers backups are in but it was still an impressive showing from Southeastern.
    • Looks like it is Mississippi State transfer Michael Van Buren's turn at quarterback. Nussmeier's day is done.
    • Fun to see a deep ball Jelani Watkins, another speedy receiver who should be the next man up. Nothing came of it, though.
    • LSU lets Damian Ramos kick a 59-yard field goal that falls well short and is returned 47 yards, but a pre-snap penalty gives the Tigers a shot at a 4th and 4 on offense.
    • Well, an odd set of events. On that field goal return, the review showed that DJ Chester was guilty of targeting and the lineman was ejected. LSU now loses a veteran lineman on an already struggling line before playing Ole Miss next week.
    • Van Buren brings some fun to the run game. He has looked shifty with the ball in his hands a couple of times already.

    4th Quarter

    • Harlem Berry and Van Buren march the Tigers down the field before the quarterback runs it in for his first score in an LSU uniform. Tigers lead 49-7.
    • There it is. Watkins is getting the Barion Brown/Zavion Thomas treatment as a backup. The Tigers are looking for ways to get him involved, this time in the run game.
    • Kyle Parker gets a pass over the middle from Van Buren and then muscles his way into the end zone. His first touchdown of the season puts LSU up 56-7.
    • The Lions have a couple of big plays set them up well, but they have to settle for a field goal. Tigers lead 56-10.

This is a developing story, more will be added...
