The LSU Tigers Women's Basketball team continued their dominant streak throughout out-of-conference play with a 117-59 win over the Charlotte 49ers.
MiLaysia Fulwiley was the star of the show off the bench in this game, leading the team with 22 points. She was lights out from deep, shooting 5-6 from three. Kim Mulkey has to be ecstatic with the way that she has answered the call to become a point guard while still not getting starter minutes.
After the failed Hailey Van Lith experiment in Mulkey's offense a couple of seasons ago, it's a good sign to see Fulwiley get off to a nice start in that regard.
Sophomore Kate Koval picked up her second-straight double-double and second of the season.
Koval is going to need to keep this up against bigger teams, as the Tigers no longer have the luxury of Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow anchoring their front court. The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish forward has gotten off to a nice start.
While this was another game that LSU was expected to win with ease, it's not one that the Tigers were ever going to take lightly after the social media activity of the 49ers over the past few days.
There were multiple posts made by members of Charlotte that they would essentially be the first team to give LSU a fight this season and that "win, lose or draw we are here to make a statement.
Instead, it was a 58-point when for the Tigers.
LSU continues their season on the road against the Tulane Green Wave on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
