The LSU Tigers had six pitchers taken in the 2026 MLB draft, and they have now all signed with their professional organizations. Here's where they went and how much their contracts were reportedly worth.
The LSU Tigers baseball program continues to usher in good news as the team celebrated that four different former pitchers drafted in this last cycle have officially signed with their new pro clubs.
There were eight Tigers selected in the 2026 MLB draft just a couple of weeks ago. Six of those players were pitchers. As of Thursday, with those four who were included in the post, all of their former stars have now signed with their clubs, per Spotrac.
While LSU didn't have their best pitching output last year, there are a lot of talented arms in this group. At least one club is going to find a hidden gem. Here are the players who were taken and their new clubs:
Philadelphia Phillies RHP Deven Sheerin
Draft Slot: Round 4, Pick No. 128
Contract: $600,000
Sheerin was the highest pitcher taken this year and received slightly over slot value, a testament to the potential of his arm. He took on a step up in competition by transferring to the Tigers from Mount St. Mary's as a freshman, but lost his true sophomore year to a knee injury. He came back and put up a 4.78 ERA, showing off a potentially deadly fastball.
Kansas City Royals RHP Grant Fontenot
Draft Slot: Round 10, Pick No. 299
Contract: $72,500
Fontenot started out with the Texas Longhorns and had a great freshman campaign before going to LSU. He likely had hopes of developing into a starter, but his two seasons in Baton Rouge were rocky. He smoothed out as a junior with a 4.18 ERA and 32.1 innings of work. He is a big righty who has a mid-90s fastball and a solid slider.
Toronto Blue Jays LHP Santiago Garcia
Draft Slot: Round 12, Pick No. 372
Contract: $125,000
Garcia was similar to Fontenot. He came out of the gates with an impressive year for the Oregon Ducks, but went to Baton Rouge and stumbled. He had a 5.96 ERA over 22.2 innings of relief work, struggling heavily with walks. While he didn't have the leap he hoped, he still showed off enough tools to get drafted.
Miami Marlins RHP Connor Benge
Draft Slot: Round 13, Pick No. 385
Contract: $122,500
Benge actually began his college career over at LSU-Eunice back in 2023 and was dominant. He jumped one level up in 2024 at Dallas Baptist and then came to the Tigers in 2025. It wasn't an easy season, posting a 6.75 ERA, and then he missed all of 2026 with a back injury.
New York Mets RHP Gavin Guidry
Draft Slot: Round 16, Pick No. 480
Contract: $150,000
Guidry is a sparkplug pitcher who has all of the makings of a great reliever at the next level. He just needs to be able to rein in his skills. He ran into some trouble, like everyone last year. His 2.59 ERA in 2024 dropped to 6.39 in 2026. He missed 2025 due to a back injury.
Cleveland Guardians RHP Zac Cowan
Draft Slot: Round 19, Pick No. 573
Contract: $100,000
