Ex-LSU Tigers tight end Bauer Sharp was just taken No. 185 overall in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After a longer wait than expected, the LSU Tigers finally see their first player taken in Day 3 of the 2026 NFL draft, as tight end Bauer Sharp was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 185 overall pick in the sixth round.
Sharp is a good athlete and, being drafted at this spot, will probably make his money in the NFL on speical teams. That's what day three is all about.
It's hard to feel good about the kid living out his NFL dream, being overlooked for much of his football career. He came out of high school as an unranked player and started his career as a redshirt for the Southeastern Lions. He was switching to tight end from quarterback and needed to develop.
Sharp transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners in 2024, caught 42 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He then came to Baton Rouge in 2025 with hopes of being a more traditional tight end to complement Trey'Dez Green. With the offense as a whole struggling, he ended up regressing a bit. He finished the year with 24 catches for 252 yards and another two scores.
The production wasn't great, but he had a fantastic pre-draft process. He ran a 4.63 40-yard dash at just under 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds. That will always get teams' attention. Few would have expected him to be the fourth Tiger drafted, but that's how the board has fallen. All that matters for him is that he made it; next up is making the roster.
