Ex-LSU Tigers star cornerback Mansoor Delane was just taken sixth overall in the 2026 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The first LSU Tigers player is off the board in the 2026 NFL draft and, as expected, it's cornerback Mansoor Delane, as he was just drafted sixth overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Delane was a one-year player for the Tigers, transferring in from the Virginia Tech Hokies in hopes of building out his draft stock. That clearly worked as he was the first cornerback taken in this class.

The Maryland standout was arguably the best defensive back in the country last season, though he didn't win the Jim Thorpe award over Ohio State Buckeyes star Caleb Downs, who is still on the draft board

The Chiefs were all in on securing Delane, trading up from the ninth pick with the Cleveland Browns to secure their next lockdown cornerback. Their current listed starters are fellow former LSU standout Kristian Fulton and 2025 third-round pick Nohl Williams.

Delane will immediately come in and contribute, looking as ready for the NFL as anyone has been in recent years. Despite suffering an early injury, he had one of the best individual seasons that Baton Rouge has ever seen from a cornerback.
