With 95 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next player to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.
The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 95 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the present of No. 95 at LSU:
No. 95 - DL Shone Washington
Washington has spent the last couple of years with the Tigers as a backup/depth lineman after transferring over from East Mississippi Community College, one of the schools featured on Netflix's "Last Chance U."
The Woodmere, La. native had originally signed with the Georgia Bulldogs out of high school back in 2022, but only played in a game before heading to JUCO ball. He has since appeared in 19 games for LSU.
So far with the Tigers, he has 12 tackles with 0.5 a TFL and 0.5 a sack. He's mostly been solid when he hits the field as a run-defender, but he has not had much of an impact. The most he's ever played in one game is 19 snaps.
Having someone who has been around for a while is important when there are so many new faces around the defensive line. Many transfers and freshmen are looking to contribute. Blake Baker having someone like Washington, who has been in his defense for two years, will be helpful in preparation and getting other players acclimated.
Highlighting Former Players Who Wore No. 95
DL Kyle Williams (2002-2005)
Williams is not only a Tigers legend, but he had a lengthy NFL career with six Pro Bowl nods. During college, he was an All-American, All-SEC and was a part of a BCS National Championship squad. He was most recently a defensive line coach for one year in Baton Rouge, but decided to move on from coaching after last season.
DL Howard Green (2000-2001)
Green had an interesting career in Baton Rouge. He originally signed with the school back in 1998 because of his grades. He went to JUCO and then came back to LSU for a couple of years, but ended up being a force to be reckoned with, nearly picking up 80 tackles over two years. He then had an iconic NFL moment when a hit on Ben Roethlisberger forced a pick-six in Super Bowl XLV, which the Green Bay Packers won by a touchdown.
