With 36 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next player to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.
The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 36 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the past and present of No. 36 at LSU:
No. 36 - CB Emari Peterson
Peterson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school, ranked the No. 100 cornerback in the nation. According to his team bio, though, he has gotten taller and added a ton of weight, which probably would have impacted his ranking. He's now listed at 6-foot-1, 198 pounds, which is great for a true freshman.
The defensive back out of Orlando, Fla. is a Corey Raymond prospect, which is good enough to be excited about. He'll have the chance to come in and sit for the next season or two and develop. He's off to a great start.
No. 36 - PK Aidan Corbello
Corbello was a good high school kicker and the son of an ex-Tigers kicker in John Corbello. It'll be his fourth year as a walk on and he will likely continue to be the backup. Scott Starzyk was brought in to start.
While walk-ons don't get the most shine, they are important in getting the team prepared to play week in and week out. Some walk-ons also earn their way to a scholarship with hard work and dedication. At worst, he looks like he would be solid depth for the room, though there are a few scholarship kickers ahead of him.
A Former Player Who Wore No. 36
K Cole Tracy (2018)
Tracy had just one season as the kicker in Baton Rouge, but it was memorable enough to get him remembered for a long time within the fanbase. He came over after three years playing for Division II Assumption, where he was an award winner, and went on to be an All-American as a senior.
He was an impressive 29-of-33 on his field goal attempts and an even more impressive 42-of-42 on extra points. It was a year to remember forever. He went undrafted in the NFL in 2019 and was briefly signed to the Seattle Dragons of the UFL in 2020, bur that was all for his professional career.
