With 15 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next two players to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.
The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 15 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the past and present of No. 15 at LSU:
No. 15 - WR Phillip Wright III
Wright should have a special spot in the hearts of Tigers fans, as he is the only wide receiver who will be returning from last year's team. A redshirt freshman is the longest-tenured LSU student.
The Destrehan graduate was offered by the Ole Miss Rebels coming out of high school, so he already had a relationship with this staff. He is also exactly what Lane Kiffin and George McDonald went on to look for at wide receiver. They brought in a ton of speedy, big-play talent.
Speed is the name of Wright's game. He consistently showed off his burners in high school, both in football and track and field. His Tigers team bio lists him as having already been clocked at 4.34 on a 40-yard dash, which is incredibly impressive for a high schooler. It'll be fun to see what he gets up to by the time he reaches the NFL draft.
On top of bringing him back, though, LSU also added a lot of veteran talent at wideout. It's not going to be an easy path to playing time for him right away over guys like Tre Brown, Jayce Brown or Eugene Wilson, all of whom fill a similar role at wide receiver.
No. 15 - DE Jaiden Braker
The Tigers added Jaiden Braker as a linebacker with NFL size at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, coming out of high school in Georgia. He was a consensus top-150 recruit in the country. He played a couple of snaps against the Southeastern Lions, but that was all for his true freshman campaign.
Now, with the pass rush depth hurting, Braker has now switched positions and is expected to be a EDGE guy now. The early results have been great with his speed working to his advantage. This could impact his timeline before hitting the field full-time, but he has supposedly picked up his new role with ease and looks even better than he did before per reports out of camp.
