With 92 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next player to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.
The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 92 days away.
As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.
Here is a look at the past and present of No. 92 at LSU:
No. 92 - DL Brandon Brown
Brown enters his second year in Baton Rouge after redshirting last season, only appearing in two games as a true freshman. He maintains his freshman status and has four years of eligibility remaining.
The Melbourne, Fla. native signed as a four-star defensive lineman in the 2025 class. He was the top-ranked defensive lineman in his freshman group, but he has quickly been given a lot of competition with the elite incoming freshman class this year.
The defensive lineman certainly has plenty of competition in front of him, but the opportunity should be there as well given how much youth and turnover that room is going to see over the next couple of seasons. He probably won't see the field much as a redshirt freshman either, though.
Brown was a dominant high school football player, but is a little undersized for the position. He uses that to his advantage, though, as he's a pretty good athlete for what the position calls for.
Highlighting Former Players Who Wore No. 92
DL Mekhi Wingo (2022-2023)
Wingo is actually a very similar player to Brown. They are both smaller/more compact players who need to win in ways other than just overpowering whoever is in front of them. It worked well for Wingo as he dominated in college and has spent two years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, though he hasn't really broken out as a contributor.
DL Neil Farrell Jr. (2017-2021)
Farrell played a lot of football in the purple and gold. He was at the school for five years and played in over 50 games. He picked up 144 career tackles with 23 TFLs and 7.5 sacks. He had an illustrious college career and was a fourth-round pick in 2022. Now, he is in the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks.
DL Drake Nevis (2007-2010)
Nevis was a part of the 2007 National Championship team, then went on to be an All-American in 2010. He had a great few years with the Tigers as he finished with 139 tackles, 31.5 TFLs, 10.0 sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles.
