With six days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next two players to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.

The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just six days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

This is an interesting day as both players are former Ole Miss Rebels standouts who followed Lane Kiffin to Baton Rouge. Here is a look at the next two to wear No. 6 at LSU:

No. 6 - WR Winston Watkins Jr.

When Kiffin accepted the Tigers job, it was assumed that he was going after Watkins hard. The day after the Rebels lost the semifinal, Watkins entered the transfer portal, and he joined LSU shortly after.

As a freshman, Watkins had 26 catches for 373 yards and a touchdown. It wasn't a huge impact, but he showcased what he needed to for his first season. Expectations are high for what he will do at the college level.

Just because he was a highly sought-after transfer, though, doesn't mean that he is gifted snaps. The expectation is that he will start in the slot, but he's going to have receivers chomping at his ankles all year long. The Tigers brought in a ton of talent at that position group, so he will need to produce to keep playing.

No. 6 - LB TJ Dottery

Dottery was another key target for LSU to bring over from Ole Miss. He was one of the best linebackers in the SEC last year, and now he joins forces with Whit Weeks to create what is probably the best room in the country for that position.

The Alabama native didn't really find the field until 2024, but he's been all over it since then. Over the past two seasons alone, he has posted 174 tackles with 10 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. He's a big athlete at 6-foot-2, 232 pounds who is more of an asset in the run game than in coverage.

Dottery is going to be looking to help out his NFL draft stock this season. He will have the opportunity in this defense; he just needs to go out and perform. If he can improve his performance against the pass, then he would check off a major question that scouts have about him right now.
