With 15 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next player to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.

The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 14 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 14 at LSU:

No. 14 - TE Trey'Dez Green

There is just one player wearing the No. 14 jersey this year, and he probably won't be wearing it for much longer. Green is the wide favorite to be chosen for the No. 7 jersey. The non-contact jersey that he has worn throughout camp is a good sign that the Tigers know just how important he is to their success this season.

The 6-foot-7 target has had a good start to his LSU career, but he has been inconsistent. Whenever the production is coming, though, it's clear to see why he will be getting the No. 7 treatment.

Green is an incredibly unique college talent. Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis have already game-planned very well over the past few years, knowing how to get the most out of their players. Now they have someone with a huge frame who moves like a wide receiver.

In the red zone, Green should be unstoppable. Last season, even when he wasn't coming down with touchdown catches, he was a magnet for flags because of the mismatch in size with defenders who are trying to cover him. No defensive back or even linebacker is that tall, so they have to try to get an advantage on that ball however they can. Often, that leads to grabbing.

This season could end with Green being a first-round NFL draft selection. It'll be exciting to see what they are able to accomplish with him while he is still a Tiger.

A Former Player Who Wore No. 14

QB Josh Booty (1999-2000)

Coming out of high school, Booty was the fifth pick in the 1994 MLB draft, choosing that over going to LSU. He went on to have a short professional career in the Minor Leagues, but never developed into a Major Leaguer.

In 1999, he came to the Tigers. Over two years, he completed 49.3% of his passes for 3,951 yards with 24 touchdowns and a whopping 34 interceptions. He was drafted in the sixth round in 2001 and stuck around until 2003.
