With 52 days until kickoff for the LSU Tigers, it's time to highlight the next player to don that jersey number in Baton Rouge.

The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 52 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 52 at LSU:

No. 52 - OL Ja'Quan Sprinkle

Sprinkle comes in as someone who will compete for playing time right away, but at worst will be an experienced backup. He started at right tackle last year for the NC Central Eagles, but was at right guard the year before. Both are question marks for the Tigers right now, so he could contribute at either.

The 6-foot-4, 297-pound lineman was a second-team All-MEAC selection last year after a solid year of pass protection. In 709 career pass protection opportunities, he allowed 29 pressures, per Pro Football Focus.

Already, Sprinkle has had a fantastic story that is only going to get better now that he is in the SEC. He was an unranked player coming out of high school, which is what led him to NC Central and worked his way to becoming a three-star transfer. He's no stranger to overcoming adversity on the football field, and fighting above his weight class. That will be important at LSU.

Highlighting A Former Player Who Wore No. 52

LB Kendell Beckwith (2013-2016)

Beckwith was a model Tiger during his playing days. He worked his way to becoming a three-year starter and played a lot of good football at LSU. While he didn't win any major individual awards, he was always in the conversation and did get both All-SEC and All-America nods as senior.

Over his Tigers career, he put up 263 tackles, 24.5 TFLs, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. He was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft. A 2018 car accident cost him the next two seasons and eventually cost him his career.

A 52-Yard Play

Joe Burrow finds Ja'Marr Chase for a 52-yard TD to tie the National Championship

Though LSU did end up winning this game handedly, it wasn't always smooth sailing in the beginning. The Tigers' first three possessions ended in punts and Clemson took a 7-0 lead. Burrow and Chase connected for this touchdown to tie it before the first quarter ended.
