There were a couple of former LSU Tigers stars moved at the 2026 MLB trade deadline, with one of them being a part of one of the day's biggest deals.
The 2026 MLB trade deadline has passed, and there were a ton of moves made around the league. A few of them included former LSU Tigers stars, including one of the biggest trades of the day.

Eyanson was the centerpiece of this deal, as he has risen to become one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball.
The righty is ranked No. 49 on the MLB Pipeline and is Baltimore's top overall prospect. He was taken in the third round back in the 2025 draft, which felt late, but he has gone on to prove that he should've been taken way sooner.
Through 68.1 innings of work, Eyanson has posted a 1.32 ERA with 94 strikeouts and a dominant 0.893 WHIP. He projects out as a strong starter in the Majors and should reach there by the end of 2027. He'll be a major foundational piece for the future with the Orioles.

Gausman is in his 14th season, has a ton of experience, and will help the Cubs as they try to make yet another push.
While the 35-year-old is past his Cy-Young candidate days, he's still a very reliable arm with almost 200 innings of postseason experience.

Smith's bat has regressed a bit this year, but he's still become a valuable utilityman, which every roster needs. He is slashing just .213/.299/.272 with a home run. He can field a ton of positions, at least at a base level.
The Rangers decided to flip him now, with two years left of team control, to retain some of that value as Smith is about to turn 29. With the Blue Jays, he'll get a change of scenery and a team that is going to be back to trying to compete next season.

The least consequential deal of the day, but the Los Angeles Dodgers shored up their catcher depth by trading Jack Suwinski and international pool money to the Tampa Bay Rays for catcher Hunter Feduccia and pitcher Jacob Kmatz.
Feduccia is a defense-first catcher who will at least make sure the Dodgers are getting something out of their catcher, as he doesn't have a very dangerous bat.
