For someone who is only in his first year of professional baseball, this still felt like a long time coming. He has utterly dominated the minor leagues since getting drafted. In 93.1 innings of work for the Mariners' Double-A squad, he has maintained an incredible 1.06 ERA.
When Seattle took Anderson third overall, it was because he was viewed as a pro-ready prospect, but they still didn't expect him to be just this ready. Now they have been stuck because of having a more-than-full MLB rotation while also not being able to send him to Triple-A because of the pitching conditions on that team.
During the deadline, though, they were able to move some pitching like Luis Castillo to the Chicago White Sox. Now, there is room for Anderson and he will face Major League pitching for the first time.
Scouts knew that this time would eventually come for Anderson since high school. He was a highly-touted prospect who chose to go to campus and play for his dream school. It was a bet that paid off well, with him being taken third overall and now already in the Majors. It's a path that could become much more common thanks to NIL.
The next Tigers star who will get called up is Baltimore Orioles star prospect Anthony Eyanson, who is having a similarly dominant start to his professional career. Like Anderson, he could see his debut before the end of this year.
