Lane Kiffin secures a massive in-state win as the nation’s top-ranked tight end, Ahmad Hudson brings elite size and athleticism to the LSU Tigers.

The LSU Tigers just pulled off one of their biggest recruiting wins of the early Lane Kiffin era, as five-star Ahmad Hudson committed on Sunday morning via a video posted to his Instagram account.

Hudson is the No. 18 player in the country, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He's also listed as the No. 1 tight end and the third-best player out of the state of Louisiana, showing just how deep this year's in-state class is. Above him is Texas Longhorns commit Easton Royal, whom Kiffin is pushing to flip, and the uncommitted Albert Simien.

As of now, Hudson is the crown jewel of the first high school class that Kiffin has had a full cycle to recruit. He is the fourth pickup that the new coach has made and fifth overall, considering that Peyton Houston was already committed and is sticking around.

Hudson will be a force to be reckoned with on the field and will be able to step in and fill the void that will be felt by Trey'Dez Green likely going to the NFL after this season. If for whatever reason Green doesn't go to the league, then LSU would have a pair of matchup nightmares to work with.

The Ruston native, is just under 6-foot-7, 240 pound. He could still grow, as well. Hudson could have also been a big-time basketball recruit had he gone down that path, because he's just that level of athlete. He not only does the flashy stuff, stretching the field and bullying people down low, but he does the gritty blocking work of a tight end. He'll be exciting to watch in the Kiffin offense.
