The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up Cam Sanders to join teammate Paul Skenes in the MLB.

The LSU Tigers have gained another former player in the MLB, as the Pittsburgh Pirates have called up Cam Sanders for his second stint, per LouisianaSports.net's Matt Moscona. This means he joins fellow ex-Tiger Paul Skenes.

Sanders and Skenes never crossed paths in Baton Rouge, but it's always good for the school to see as many former players in the league as possible. LSU has long been a good developer of professional talent, but Jay Johnson is taking it up a notch. Even though he didn't coach Sanders, this will definitely still be a positive.

Sanders played for the Tigers for one season back in 2018 after first playing for Northwest Florida State College. He came out of the bullpen and had a 5.59 ERA in that one season in Baton Rouge. He was a strikeout machine, but struggled with control. There were flashes, though, enough for him to be a 12th-round draft selection by the Chicago Cubs in that year's draft.

He spent the next few years in the Cubs' organization before signing a minor league deal with the Pirates in 2025. He made his MLB debut last season and posted an 8.10 ERA in six appearances. So far in 2026, while playing only in Triple-A, Sanders has a 3.00 ERA over seven outings.

Pittsburgh has had a lot of talent come through Baton Rouge in recent years. Skenes and Sanders are the only ones in the Majors, but they also selected Jared Jones in the ninth round of last year's draft
