Well, the LSU Tigers can add "pipeline to a television career" to their recruiting push as former superstar gymnast Livvy Dunne has been cast as a recurring character in Fox's upcoming reboot of 'Baywatch.'
Nellie Andreeva of Deadline broke the news on Thursday, and Dunne confirmed the report on social media by stating, "Time to get to work!!!"
Fox's reboot of the former Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff vehicle is set to include a number of famous influencers. Dunne is one of the bigger stars of the social media era and is one of the most popular former student-athletes of recent memory.
Dunne has over 5.3 million followers on Instagram and 7.9 million on TikTok.
The New Jersey native competed for the Tigers from 2021 to 2025. She was a part of the 2024 National Championship-winning squad. Her gymnastics career began long before, and even brought her to the US Junior National team before getting to Baton Rouge. She is now retired, though, and has stated that acting is the new career path she intends to go down.
While this show is focused on influencers and not actors, Dunne will likely view this as a way to get her foot in the door for more acting opportunities.
Earlier this week, in an interview with People Magazine's Lexi Lane and Lindsay Kimble, the 23-year-old stated the following:
"It's something I've been passionate about for quite some time. I was interested in doing that at LSU, but sports are your top priority when you're a student-athlete at school; school and sports, but really gymnastics was my main focus."
She was already a trendsetter for the new NIL era of college athletics. There were rumors of her working on a movie while still a student athlete for the Tigers, but that never came to fruition.
LSU already has one of the biggest brands in all of sports. Now, if one of their most high-profile former athletes becomes an even somewhat prominent actor, it would only stand to benefit.
