Mazi Mosley joins three others exiting the LSU Tigers basketball program.
As is tradition with new coaching hires, players who are closely tied to the previous regime start to clear out. Freshman guard Mazi Mosley became the fourth LSU Tigers player to lay out plans to enter the transfer portal since the Will Wade hire, per On3's Joe Tipton.
Mosley was a four-star recruit out of Napa, Calif. 247Sports had him listed as the No. 75 player in his high school class, the No. 13 shooting guard and the No. 18 player out of California. Fun fact: he is the nephew of basketball legen Magic Johnson.
He is an exciting player given his mix of skillset and frame, seeing as though he's already 6-foot-5 but doesn't have much weight. He was projected to be a work-in-progress type of player.
The Prolific Prep grad must have liked the potential of being taught by Matt McMahon, but could now be on the move for a different environment and a fresh start after that plan has gone out the window.
It would be interesting to see what Mosley could do in Baton Rouge under Wade. It's not surprising to see him on the move. McMahon did not give him much run as a freshman. He made 1`2 of 35 attempted field goals as a freshman, going 10-of-26 from beyond the arc.
Mosley joins DJ Thomas, Jalen Reed and Ron Zipper as the four Tigers players who have announced plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on April 7. It was already going to be a busy offseason for Wade, but losing four people who could have been major contributors only makes it more pressing. Nothing too shocking, though, yet.
