The time has come for the final LSU Tigers football game before head coach Lane Kiffin takes over, it's the Kinder's Texas Bowl against the Houston Cougars.
It was a disappointing campaign for the Tigers, finishing with a 7-5 record, and it led to their second straight Texas Bowl appearance and the third since 2021. The program has much higher expectations than this, which is why there was a coaching change made.
The Cougars are slight favorites in this game. They sit at 9-3 and are the No. 21-ranked team in the nation. They are 2-2 in their last four games, though, so LSU could be catching them at the right time. They have a fairly balanced attack, averaging 215.3 yards through the air and 175.7 yards on the ground.
Conner Weigman is a dangerous dual-threat quarterback. He's completed 63.9% of his passes this season for 2,475 yards with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has run the ball 158 times for 644 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Tigers are going to have most of their players ready to play despite the coaching change, but the ones who did opt out are big names. Garrett Nussmeier, Mansoor Delane, White Weeks, Harold Perkins and Aaron Anderson are among the names known to be out for this game.
Frank Wilson will be coaching this game for LSU, one more game before he heads to the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin takes over the reins in Baton Rouge.
