The initial injury report for this weekend's LSU Tigers vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs matchup.
The LSU Tigers are searching for a bounceback against the Mississippi State Bulldogs this weekend and are going to have their eyes peeled on the injury report.
Everyone is awaiting the Friday status of Bulldogs quarterback Kamario Taylor, who has been dealing with an injury suffered against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Tigers have had some rough injury luck this season, but things have begun to slow down, mercifully. Here are the initial reports put out by the conference on Wednesday night:
LSU Tigers Injury Report
Out
TE Trey'Dez Green
LB Whit Weeks
S Dashawn Spears
WR Phillip Wright III
LB Charles Ross II
Questionable
LB Tylen Singleton
No major surprises for LSU on this update. Majorly, they've avoided any more long-term injuries since the flurry a couple of weeks ago (knock on wood). Ideally, that OUT list will begin to shrink over the next month.
Singleton being questionable stings in terms of depth if he isn't able to go. Davhon Keys has been the starter, but Singleton is expected to play as well. He was only able to play three snaps last week. Ideally, he'll be able to bounce back in time for this one to help out the linebacker room.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Injury Report
Out
LB Jalen Smith
WR Ayden Williams
DL Trevion Williamson
DL Diesel Moye
Doubtful
LB Zakari Tillman
Questionable
QB Kamario Taylor
RB Fluff Bothwell
This was pretty much the expected outcome for Taylor, after reports started leaking out earlier in the week. He hasn't had a full practice since that game against the Tide on Oct. 3, dealing with a foot issue.
Taylor's Friday status is going to have a major impact on this game. He has been one of the most electric quarterbacks in the entire country, and the Bulldogs don't have a great answer as a backup. If he doesn't go, it would likely be redshirt freshman walk-on Parker Puckett. No offense to Puckett, but Blake Baker's defense would be licking its chops after that news.
The uncertainty around Taylor is likely a large reason why LSU is favored by over two touchdowns, rising since the lines opened as well.
Bothwell also suffered an injury against Alabama, which was another big loss for their offense. He had three straight games with at least 100 yards and is picking up 5.4 yards per carry. The backups combined for 37 yards on 20 carries in last week's game. They will be watching his status closely as well.
