The great news that the LSU Tigers got on Friday should complete their infield for next season.

The LSU Tigers are piecing together their roster for the 2027 season and just got some great news heading into the weekend that makes three starting positions clear.

With the MLB draft a month away, now is the time that the Tigers are waiting to hear decisions from their players who could either come back for another year or go pro.

LSU heard back from two stars on Friday, telling them that they would be coming to Baton Rouge next season: veteran shortstop Steven Milam and incoming transfer Cade Kurland. It was a fantastic turn of events for head coach Jay Johnson.

With Kurland and Milam now on the board for next year's team, the Tigers should now have a clear plan in place for the infield. It should be Mason Braun at first base, Kurland at second, Milam at shortstop, and Park over at third.

The hardest decision to make in this group is at shortstop, but there's no real bad option there. In the end, it should probably be Milam given his experience and time at the school.

The 21-year-old has been a key part of the LSU game plan for the last three years and has proven himself capable of holding down shortstop. He had a fielding percentage of 98.1% this season and maintained his reputation as a great defender.

He is someone whom Johnson needs to keep happy as one of the most reliable bats on the team. He opted not to go to the MLB. Now, there is no way they can take short from him.

Park is the other player who would be the argument to play there, because he probably has a slightly higher defensive ceiling there, not to discount Milam at all. He is a great athlete with a huge arm, which is why he could slide over to third with ease, even if he isn't taking full advantage of his range there.

It is also easier to rotate at third with Park, who has a less proven bat. He hit 13 home runs and had a .962 OPS last year, but had a .614 OPS with two homers in a similar sample size as a freshman.

Kurland is a veteran second baseman with almost 200 collegiate games under his belt. He'll be fine there. Braun could either play first or a corner outfield spot, but it looks like he'll slide in at first. Those are much easier decisions to make.
