The LSU Tigers have finally announced the next players to don the No. 7 and No. 18 jerseys in Baton Rouge.

Lane Kiffin and his LSU Tigers staff have officially kept a popular tradition going as the team announced the next recipients of the No. 7 and No. 18 jerseys. It was and wasn't the grouping of players that was expected.

The Tigers are going with two players at No. 7, one on offense and one on defense, while an offensive lineman will be wearing a No. 18 patch. Here are the players who were chosen:

No. 7 - TE Trey'Dez Green

This is what everyone expected to see. Green is one of the biggest talents on this team and is viewed a little bit differently around town. His non-contact jersey in practice shows that this offense knows that they will need the athletic tight end to stay healthy.

There was about a three-week stretch last season where it felt like LSU was getting as much as they could out of him. He had 19 catches for 247 yards and three touchdowns against SEC opponents. Kiffin and Weis should be able to help him find a bit more consistent production. Dae'Quan Wright, a tight end in their scheme last season, finished with 39 catches for 635 yards and five scores for the Ole Miss Rebels.

No. 7 - LB Whit Weeks

Weeks was a favorite to receive a special number, but many assumed he would be No. 18 while Green was No. 7. Having them both wear No. 7 also makes sense. Weeks embodies both, but he should be one of the best linebackers in the country so he should live up to the one he got.

Back in his last healthy season, Weeks had 125 tackles with 10 TFLs, 3.5 sacks and an interception. Repeating that this year would certainly be worthy of the number.

No. 18 - C Braelin Moore

Moore hasn't been a Tiger for long, but coming back for a second season does make him one of the longest-tenured players on the team after the coaching change. He's also a redshirt senior who has played a lot throughout his career.

While the offensive line was disappointing as a whole last year, Moore was an exception. He could have likely gone to the NFL, but instead chose to return and hopefully increase his stock after playing in what should be a successful offense this time around. He is one of the best centers in the nation and will be a leader on the team. No. 18 is fitting.
