The LSU Tigers just can't get past the South Carolina Gamecocks, as they fall 83-77 on Saturday afternoon in the SEC Tournament Semifinal. They are now eliminated and will begin to focus on March.

The Tigers fall to 27-5 on the year. It'll be interesting to see if they end up being a two or three-seed in the NCAA

This was the 19th straight loss to the Gamecocks for the Tigers. Kim Mulkey has done a ton since she was hired, winning a national championship, but she has still been unable to beat a South Carolina team at LSU.

The main worry about this game from the Tigers' standpoint is that Mikaylah Williams and Flau'jae Johnson combined for just 20 points and 6-for-20 from the field.

It has been good that LSU has been able to share the ball so much this season and not lean only on its star players, but those star players need to play like stars sometimes.

For the Gamecocks, Raven Johnson put together the best game of her career. She had 22 points on 9-of-14 from the field with three rebounds and eight assists.

The Tigers did have MiLaysia Fulwiley, the former South Carolina Gamecocks standout, who had a game-high 24 points. She clearly wanted this game over her former team. Jada Richard also stood out with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.

LSU is still a very good team and should make a deep run into the postseason, but their inability to win a number of these close games against elite teams is worrying.
