LSU Tigers Football Program Makes Two Important Front Office Hires cover image

LSU Tigers bolster front office with key hires, strengthening internal operations and external relations as college football's landscape evolves.

The LSU Tigers have mostly figured out their roster and coaching staff for the first season under Lane Kiffin, but are still tinkering around with the front office.

A couple of front office moves were made and reported on Saturday. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports had broken the news of the Tigers' hiring of Adam Clark weeks ago, but it is now known to be for the role of assistant general manager for internal operations. Zenitz has also reported that JR Belton is being promoted to assistant general manager for external relations.

As the world of NIL and revenue sharing expands, making sure that there is a strong support staff on and off the field is becoming more and more important. College teams are being run like they are in the NFL, which is causing front offices to expand.

The job listing for Clark's role explained the following: assists the General Manager in supporting and overseeing the daily internal operations of the football front office... the position plays a critical role in staff management, budgeting, contract support, scheduling, and performance evaluation within today's complex collegiate football landscape.

Clark had been with the NC State Wolfpack since 2019 as their associate athletic director.

Belton is a Louisiana native who has been with LSU in a couple of different roles since 2021. He started as the director of football recruiting under Ed Orgeron and was then promoted to director of football operations under Brian Kelly. Kiffin will be his third Tigers head coach and also brings another promotion.

It will be similar to Clark's role, but with a focus more on what's happening outside of the building.
